Thoughts for weathering a COVID winter

With echoes of the first lockdown still fresh in our minds, it might be hard to think about a winter indoors without much to do. Here are some ideas to help you make it through the coming months.

Health:

Be prepared. Make sure your digital thermometers have batteries and that you’ve got a modest and reasonable amount (no need to hoard) of over-the-counter medications for seasonal ailments, so you don’t find yourself traipsing about the drug store feeling crummy and sharing germs.

Entertainment:

Your analog entertainment collection could probably use a little love before times get tough (and these quarantine staples can get expensive!) Board games, jigsaw puzzles, and coloring books can provide fun for the whole family.

They’ve got coloring books and paint-by-numbers for kids of all ages these days. Maybe snag some new crayons, colored pencils, and markers to make a stress-relieving craft corner in your home.

You could even dust off your existing game and puzzle collection (sanitize it) and swap with other friends and families for games that are new to you!

Holidays:

Missing out on that big annual family photo from your reunion? Gather the family on Zoom and mark this moment in history with a Brady Bunch style family photo. This snap will be one for the history books. And who knows? Someday you may look back at it with fond memories!

Keeping the holiday magic alive has never been more convenient! Connect your kids for some 1:1 Zoom time with the Big Guy for a little extra encouragement to preserve “Nice List” status.

Not everyone loves to be outdoors in the chilly winter months, but there may be opportunities for festive get-togethers outdoors. Sleigh rides, light displays, and outdoor ice skating are good options! If you have hills around and can safely do so, maybe break out the old sled and take it for a spin like the good ol’ days!

Stay safe and warm, however you weather this COVID winter. If you want to send me that family Brady Bunch picture, I’d love to see it! Remember that I’m your friend in the mortgage business and I’m always just an email or phone call away!
